Gowrie – Gary L. Kruse 85, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at his home.  Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Gowrie, with Pastor Susan Rohden officiating.  Burial will be at Callender Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.  Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

     Gary is survived by his wife Joyce; their children, Jeff (Ann) Kruse of Gowrie, Kevin (Patty) Kruse of Callender, Kenneth (Joni) Kruse of Fort Dodge, and Tammy (Curt) Donahe of Farnhamville; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Parkie and Frances (O’Brion) Kruse; infant sister Patricia Kruse; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Forest and Evelyn Crouse.

     Gary L. Kruse was born February 27, 1937, at Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He was raised and educated in Gowrie and graduated from Gowrie High School with the Class of 1955.  On October 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to Joyce Crouse at Jefferson.  The couple established their home in Gowrie.  Gary worked at Smith’s Meat Market for 10 years and then for Webster County Road Maintenance for 26 years until his retirement in 1999.  Gary also worked as a part time police officer for the City of Gowrie.  Gary was a member of the United Methodist Church and had served on the Gowrie Fire Department for many years.  He enjoyed family vacations in Minnesota and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
