Knoke – Marlin R. Spiess 70, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Manson.  His wishes were to be cremated. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, with Pastor Aaron Zimmerman officiating.   Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Jolley.  Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Church until service time.  Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.  Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family.

     Marlin is survived by his son Aaron (Natalie) Spiess of Evansdale, Iowa; and granddaughter Addison Spiess.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Esther (Armstrong) Spiess; and sisters, Sandra Barrett and Delores Kacmarynski.

     Marlin R. Spiess was born March 4, 1953 at Fort Dodge, Iowa.  Marlin was raised in Knoke and graduated from Pomeroy High School, with the Class of 1971.  Marlin attended Lincoln Tech in Des Moines.  Following his education, he operated the family business, Spiess Service in Knoke until 1994.  Marlin then drove truck for various trucking companies including Jerry Layman Trucking and Smithway until his retirement in 2018.  Marlin was a fireman for Butler Township.
